Festival Fever! NFTN, Fremont Fair, and HONK! Fest West

In addition to Noise For The Needy (NFTN), which we covered in the last post, there are two other music festivals to look forward to in Seattle this weekend. THREE MUSIC FESTIVALS! Ack! Theoretically, because they actually span three days each, you could hit one of these events per day and get the full effect...and HONK! is a part of the Fremont Solstice Parade, an element of the fair, on Saturday the 22nd. The point is, there are lots of ways to get out and enjoy music this weekend!

Noise For The Needy...June 20, 21, 22...Ballard

3-4 shows per day, $10-$15 per show. For more information, see our previous post here.

Fremont Fair...June 21, 22, 23...Fremont

I'll be honest, I don't know most of these bands. I bold/italicized those that I recommend below.Of course, there are lots of other things going on with the Fremont Fair, including the always-fantastic Solstice Parade on Saturday (complete with painted bicyclists!). See you there! This is one of those events that I look forward to all year.

HONK! Fest West...June 21, 22, 23...Georgetown, Fremont/Wallingford, Columbia City

HONK! Fest West is a free "community-supported music festival devoted to marching bands, drum corps, samba lines, and anything acoustic and mobile that makes a ruckus. We revel in celebration of street band culture by taking mirth and music to the streets and parks of Seattle." It's family-friendly, costumes-encouraged. No wonder they're hooking up with the Fremont Fair for the parade; it's a perfect match!

Friday, June 21st: Find the festival at the corner of Vale and Airport Way in Georgetown from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Music continues until midnight inside The Mix (21+).

Saturday, June 22nd. HONK! is partnering with the Fremont Arts Council and the Solstice Parade, and will be a part of Solstice Parade’s 25th year in the streets of Fremont, before traveling on to Gas Works Park for an afternoon of musical revelry from 3 – 8 p.m.

Sunday, June 23rd, HONK! Presents a free revue of all our HONK! Bands at the Seattle Art Museum from 12-3pm! Follow them to the Columbia City Theatre at 7pm for a wrap party and jam session.
