Hey
everyone! National stuff: back in March, legendary post-punk/art punk outfit
Wire curated a festival called DRILL in London, and Thursday through Saturday
of this week they are going to be doing the same for sunny Seattle. The
festival will be broken down into three separate events at the Crocodile,
Neumos, and Barboza, with the band themselves appearing the final night with
our very own Chastity Belt. Another great, and somewhat surprising show, is
Juliana Barwick's performance at The Fremont Abbey this Friday. If you haven't
heard Nepenthe then
you show definitely put it on your list before then. Also, Blues Control.
They're playing at the Tractor with Hobosexual and Quasi on Friday as well and
from their performance at The Comet earlier this year, I can tell you that they
are amazing live. Finally, LA's Audacity are coming to the Black Lodge tomorrow
night--also a great live show.
Great
local stuff includes the free Stalebirth
show at Vermillion for noise aficionados; the benefit for KSUB, Seattle Universities local radio
station, with Lures
and Bigfoot Wallace and his Wicked Sons, Albatross, and White Gardens at Chop
Suey; A special MTNs/Monogamy party collaborative set at Black Lodge on
Wednesday; Airport
with Ecstatic Cosmic Union at Vermillion on Saturday at Vermillion; and a
chance to see both Scriptures and Piano Piano at over at The Sunset the same
night. Piano Piano's 'We I Was Not In Myself, No One Alarmed Me', was featured
on our best
of August list and if post-rock is your thing then you show take a listen.
I
know I always say it, but there really is a ton of stuff I didn't even mention
below. Have a great week!
