We're
back! And just in time too, 'cause there are so many great acts to see in the
next few weeks. Tonight: Best Coast with Very Bad Things (which
made our best of 2013.5: abroad list) , and Jetman
Jet Team with Experimental Dental School--both line-ups are phenomenal, but
I'll probably end up in the Jet Team audience. Other great shows at the Comet
this week include Stalebirth
with Lazy and Pentaglam on Tuesday, and The Lindseys with Crazy Eyes and Swamp
Meat on Wednesday. Local Nu-jazz titans Heatwarmer (see our
favorite releases for July) are playing at Columbia City Theater with Body
Parts and Lures on Thursday; unfortunately, it'll be at the same time that
Texas' The Polyphonic Spree are headlining at Neumos. I haven't been a fan of
everything they've done, but their new record, "Yes, It's True" is
pretty decent. For this Friday consider heading over to Sonic Boom to see the
free in-store performance from Smith Westerns, followed by either the USF/Hibou
show at The Comet, or Grave Babies with Zebrahunt at Heartland. Round off the
week with either Erik Blood at Vera, or Tummy at Heartland. Oh yeah, you have
two opportunities to see Hall and Oats this week and I added both of them cause
that's how I roll. Have a great week!
