First, a PSA: the ArtAche Market feat. Golden Gardens today is cancelled. The
Guerrilla Jammer has been, understandably, moved in-doors, but the rest of our
events list is good to go. All our respect to those that made it out to support
local music last night.
Great touring
options: Boston psych-jammers Quilt are coming to Barboza tomorrow
night in support of their sophomore effort 'Held In Splendor', and
Spanish dance-poppers Delorean are set to take the same stage on Tuesday--glad that the kidnapping thing didn't sour them on touring too much. Chill-wave producer Teen Daze
is performing at Vera on Thursday, and don't forget about Marissa Nadler on
Saturday. The singer-songwriter just released her 6th album, 'July', and if
you've never seen a show at the Fremont Abbey this is the time to start.
Local: fans of
noise music will be pretty happy this week. Industrial doom rockers Haunted
Horses are playing a free show tonight at Vermillion that looks pretty good;
Stalebirth is releasing their second tape at a show at The In on Thursday; and
Masturbatory Dysfunction will be hazing crowds at The Josephine on Saturday.
Alt-rock/pop
punk options: The Ephrata show with Tangerine on Wednesday at Lo-Fi is probably
my favorite option; however, both XVIII Eyes with Fox and The Law and Seacats
at Sunset, and the TacocaT album release show over at Chop Suey look pretty
great too. Both on Thursday.
Hardcore:
Deadkill will be orchestrating a very special Valentine's Day celebration at
The Kraken on Thursday. If you haven't heard 'No, Never!' yet I
highly recommend you check it out. Don't think you can talk your significant
other into it? Never worry, you can still see Sashay and Pink-House the
previous night at Black Lodge.
