Sasquatch! 2013 Music Festival pt. 1

The creators of Sasquatch! do this nifty thing where they announce the festival's lineup at a free concert in Seattle. They've got style.

Personally, I've never been to Sasquatch! because it's 1) way out at the Gorge, 2) kind of expensive in comparison to the other great nearby festivals like Bumbershoot or Doe Bay Fest, and 3) It's Memorial Day Weekend, and I always have plans! However, the announcement concert is both FREE and LOCAL. Awesome!

The Sasquatch! 2013 Launch Party concert will feature Built to Spill, Cody ChesnuTT, and "a very special surprise guest performance"; it will be hosted by Luke Burbank (of KIRO-FM radio and the podcast "Too Beautiful to Live"). It will be at the Neptune Theater on February 4th (Monday).

To get tickets, head to the Neptune Theater box office in the University District at noon on February 2nd (heck, maybe even a bit earlier, to beat the line). They're limiting tickets to two per person in line.

Speculation on who might be playing Sasquatch! 2013:
* The Postal Service is playing Coachella. I sincerely hope Ben Gibbard, a Seattle-native and 1/2 of the band, will push to play Sasquatch! It seems likely, since it is reported that they are seeking additional festival dates.

*The Stranger is speculating Telekinesis (featuring members of Say Hi, Wild Flag, and the Globes), since they don't have a Seattle date in their tour yet.

*Local blogger Guerilla Candy is speculating that maybe Dave Grohl and his Sound City Players (Grohl has a movie he's promoting called Sound City, and he pulled together a band to support the movie, including John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, Corey Taylor, Krist Novoselic, and others...) Sasquatch! Festival tweeted "Yay! @soundcitymovie will premiere at Sundance! Check out the official movie trailer now: [link]" It might be a reach, but it would be kind of awesome! And heck, speculation is fun!

*Consequence of Sound is speculating on their Festival Outlook page that we might see Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Disclosure, Nick Offerman, and The XX.

Stay tuned for more information! We will definitely post the lineup announced at the launch party - hope to see you there!
