*Updated 1/5* Upcoming Seattle Shows

Jeez, what a weekend! Drone at Chapel Performance Space, great hardcore via Heiress, Big Ass Boombox, and a great performance from Audacity at Black Lodge. It was one of those weekends that make the Seattle scene seem boundless; however, if you missed out, or are just that hardcore, there are still plenty of offerings to keep you busy through the week.

One great touring option this week is the surf-pop duo known as Tennis at Barboza on Tuesday. If, like me, you loved 'Cape Dory', but weren't all that hot for 'Young & Old', then you should definitely check out their new EP, 'Small Sound'--it's a giant step back in the right direction. The Psychobilly fanatic in you will be pleased to know that The Reverend Horton Heat is coming to the Showbox on Thursday with Nekromantix; If you missed last night's Surfer Blood show you can still catch them with Hibou on the 10th for their second of three performance at The Sunset Tavern; the always wonderful Thao & The Get Down Stay Down with be heading to the Neptune that same night with Sonny & The Sunsets; and the following evening you might take a trip to Showbox at the Market for SKA legends Reel Big Fish on the second leg of their "Don't Stop Skankin" tour.

Local stuff: If you like dance music then you NEED to go to the inaugural DIAL UP night at Q Nightclub featuring SF beat-smith Giraffage. It's free! Cairo Seattle is again putting on their EXPO festival with Friday having more electronica and Saturday being more guitar-centric; Mamma Casserole has set up an awesome night of local bands covering krautrock classics on Friday at the Lo-Fi featuring Low Hums and Terminal Fuzz Terror; and our friends in Baniszewski-Leblanc are going to be creating yet another sensational collage at Cafe Racer on Friday. I can't tell you any more about it (partially because the details have been very hush hush), but I can promise that this will not be a dull night. Also, it's free, so do it!

This and much more below. Have a great week!
